Local Remembrance Day Services

Lest We Forget. Remembrance Day Services on 13th and 14th Novermber 2021 locally.

Sunday 14th – Upper Norwood War Memorial Remembrance (Westow Street) at 10.30am.
Salvation Army Band will be playing pre-service music at the War Memorial, with the Service to start 10.45am and two minutes silence at 11.00am. Service to conclude 11.15am. There will be also an indoor service in Salvation Army Hall at the same time. With help from Friends of Gipsy Hill, temporary access will be made available onto the Westow Street Green (in front of Sainsbury’s). You are kindly asked to try and keep the Westow Street footway clear and to use the Green for attending the Service by the War Memorial.

Sunday 14th – Vincennes War Memorial Remembrance (Opp Elmwood School SE27 9RR) at 3pm.
Supported by Rev Jonathan Croucher for the Remembrance Service. They will be joined by the Mayor Lambeth and our MP, Helen Hayes, along with local councillors and the band of the Upper Norwood Salvation Army. Refreshments afterwards at Emmanuel Church and Community Center nearby on Clive Road.

Sunday 14th – Christ Church Remembrance Sunday Service 11am to 12pm
Christ Church on Gipsy Hill. They will observe two minutes silence at the beginning of the service at 11am. Their Sunday services are also simultaneously streamed live on their facebook page. More details on their website.

Sat and Sun 13th /14th – Christ Church Gipsy Hill, Remembrance Butterflies and Service

Christ Church welcomes anyone who would like to remember a loved one whom they’ve lost, or mark any other loss which might have been part of the pandemic experience. Add a butterfly to our beautiful installation of memorial butterflies. Write in their book of remembrance, light a candle. Rest a while and reflect in the peace of the church building. And if you would like a name of a loved one read out at our 6pm memorial service on Sunday, please email curate@gipsyhill.org.uk.
