Gipsy Hill’s First Community Christmas Tree
Friends of Gipsy Hill crowdfunded to provide the area with its very first community Christmas Tree in 2020! Thanks to the generosity of the local people and businesses we’ve been able to share a little festive joy with the Gipsy Hill community every Christmas since.
Not only that, but with regular events around the tree in the run up to Christmas, there are plenty of ways to get into the Christmas spirit!
In 2020 Friends of Gipsy Hill and Lambeth Council installed a dedicated Christmas tree ‘pit’ on Gipsy Hill with a power supply for tree lighting. This means, with local help, we can have a Christmas tree each year! But a Christmas tree isn’t anything without Christmas decorations, and ours is decorated with handmade festive wooden decorations, made by the community.
To make our tree even more special, we ask local individuals, families and businesses to contribute and to send us messages of hope, wishes, or reflections, which we make and secure around the tree with ribbons. Keep an eye out in the run up to Christmas for more info!
