Station Garden

With the help of the local community Friends of Gipsy Hill have started to transform what was environmentally impoverished land by Gipsy Hill station into a wildlife habitat, an educational and community space, and a beautiful green garden!

Over the years the land adjoining Gipsy Hill station along Sainsbury Road had deteriorated considerably, making the station less enjoyable to use and encouraging littering and fly tipping. Friends of Gipsy Hill have made huge improvements to the area, making the walk to the Platform 1 entrance more enjoyable and the area a positive place for all those who live and work around it. But we’re not finished!

The Friends Rejuvenation of Gipsy Hill first project was our community station gardens. Works started in earnet after a spacehive crowdfunder won the support from the Mayor of London as part of Crowndfund London in 2018.

We’ve been working hard on improving Garden 1 (you’ll have seen our wonderful volunteers hard at work through the week!) and also have plans to create a Petanque court. Not only that, but Friends of Gipsy Hill have big plans for Garden 2 too!
