Southwark Blue Plaque scheme – vote for Helene!


UPDATE! WE DID IT! THANK YOU to everyone who voted, Helene Aldwinckle will be the Southwark Blue Plaque for 2023!


Vote now for a special Blue Plaque for Helene Aldwinckle. She was one of the most senior female codebreakers at Bletchley Park, which hosted the British government’s programme to crack the German Enigma code in the Second World War. Helen lived locally at 76 Farquhar Road SE19 from 1979 to 2014.

The Southwark Blue Plaque scheme is VOTING now. Five people with connections to the borough have been put forward this year – but only one will be chosen. To vote, email kit@southwarknews.co.uk naming the person that you would like to see commemorated with a blue plaque. Voting closes at midnight on November 30th.
