A tree of hope for Gipsy Hill!

A HUGE thank you from all the Friends of Gipsy Hill, to EVERYONE who supported, helped, inspired and contributed, to the amazing (and first) community Christmas Tree crowd funder for Gipsy Hill, on Gipsy Hill! The reaction from so many has been amazing… with people cheering, taking photos, saying thank you, and stopping on their way to look and pause and take a moment to reflect on a shared community wish for something special for everyone in Gipsy Hill to enjoy.

It was an epic day seeing the tree take form. The tree arrived at 6am and the weeks of preparation to plan and support the tree were implemented in the morning enabling wider community effort to come and help decorate the tree in the afternoon.  A huge thank you for the many helpers from Friends of Gipsy Hill and volunteers for their amazing HOME made sustainable decorations, and the amazing 3D printed sponsored motifs from biodegradable cornstarch.  Thank you to Lambeth for connecting us with power!  Tree decorations included painted wooden round slices from trees pruned in our Community Garden, salt-dough made and painted snowman, stars, hessian and jute bows in red and natural all home made by volunteers… AND… LOTS of help and kind gifts from the community who helped volunteers on the day of tree making! Also, special thanks to all the community for contributing to our crowfunder and our local sponsors:

To make our tree special we want local individuals, families and businesses to send us your photos of the tree and messages of hope, wishes, reflections which we will add to our website and social media pages.   Send your photos and message to:  gipsyhillfriends@gmail.com

The additional stretch funding has also been secured to support the Open Door Kitchen across the festive period and well into 2021. Friends of Gipsy Hill
