Special Events in Gipsy Hill in July

Special Events this month…

  • Wed 22th July,  6pm to 7.30pm  – The Long Meadow Clean Up (part 1) . Help give Long Meadow some love and TLC with an early evening clean up. Drop in any time to join us, for little or longer time. Hand sanitiser and hand cleaning materials provided, and litter pickers, and disposable gloves, and bags also all provided. Please do bring your own gloves if you have them.  Strong footwear is required (no flip flops). Covid19 guidance will be issued on the day for safe working (with max 6 at a time litter picking).  Meet at Long Meadow at the roundabout end. Nearest entrance is in Duwlich Wood Avenue. Note the ground is not level at this end of the meadow. We will be in Hi Vis, and easy to spot!  More event info here on fb. The Long Meadow Clean Up (part 1)

  • Sat 25th July, 3pm to 5pm   Beating the Bounds of Gipsy Hill
    To celebrate the arrival of the British Rail Gipsy Hill sign back to its home we will be carrying out our FIRST Beating of the Bounds parade of Gipsy Hill taking in some of the sights of Gipsy Hill.  We will be setting off from the Two Towers on Gipsy Road and via Salters Hill to Hamilton Road then back down Gipsy Road to Gipsy Hill then to Cawnpore Street then back to Gipsy Hill.

    Starting at The Two Towers round to the Gipsy Hill Brewery then we will visit all the shops and businesses on Gipsy Road including the Gypsy Rose Cafe, Indian Dining Club, Pomodoro, Luna Cafe and the Paxton. Then we will go on to Gipsy Hill to all the businesses via Long Meadow, including Manuels, Eastern Cuisine, The Colby Arms, Rock Steady Rum Lounge and the Bull And Finch Brewery. With a stop off outside the station we will then go on via the Spice Hut to The Great Southern and to the Railway Bell.

    Our final resting place for the day will be at the mural on the bridge where we will have a take out beer from one of the many establishments we will have visited.If you see us out and about then please say hello.

    This world tour of Gipsy will be conducted with social distancing. Masks and hand sanitiser will be a plenty for the parade attendees.  More event info here on fb.  Beating the Bounds of Gipsy Hill
