As our garden grows from strength to strength we are planning a Gipsy Hill Village Fete on Long Meadow on 14th July 2019. Collaborating with the 1st Crystal Palace Scouts and many other community groups, this is the first event in modern times in the Gipsy Hill area. Music, splat-a-rat, tug of war, a dog show, food and drink, a bouncy castle and the opportunity to start growing your own plants. Final events will depend on obtaining more sponsorship and our crowdfunding now!
Funding will help Fanny the Gipsy Hill Cat have a ‘home from home’. The loveliest and cuddliest station cat lives nearby, and as we all know she also has quarters within the Gipsy Hill station community garden. We plan to have her garden home refurbished to keep her cat basket dry. This way she gets to keep her current residence but we provide an additional wind- and rainproof shelter without disrupting her.
This crowdfunding:
- completes our fundraising for staging the event
- sets us up to repeat it in coming years
- funds smaller events in the Gipsy Hill station community garden
With extra funding we can do more in the garden, and create a community noticeboard! Plus, “The Great Southern Pub” (formally the Gipsy Hill Tavern) have donated the old pub sign which we want to preserve for the community. This means framing and displaying it as part of our rich Gipsy Hill heritage.
